Fond memories:So many memorable and fun moments were had in my five seasons at SFGA. I met a ton of interesting people, locals and fellow students at the dorms at Barat College. The parties and interpersonal relationships got better every year as I got to know more and more people. The Whizzer Crew of '92 was a blast, and my job as a Training Lead (no longer a position I understand) was one of the most rewarding and memorable roles I've ever served. My final year as a seasonal Safety Supervisor, "Safety 5", offered exposure to many people and different parts of the park I'd never had the opportunity to interact with in my prior positions. I tell people I had the best summer job a college kid could have.

Areas worked: Kiosk ('88), Rides ('89-92) - '89 - Power Dive/Cajun -> Shockwave, '90 Shockwave -> Iron Wolf, '91 Lobster/Gig (Asst Lead) -> Carousel/Tower (Lead), '92 Condor/Dodge (Lead), also certified Rapids though I never was assigned to that crew
Fond memories:My first year in rides (I spent '88 getting my foot in the door with the Kiosk crew) my Lead of on Power Dive/Cajun Cliffhanger was Jim Hartke (hope I'm spelling it right) and Jim was an absolute riot. He was funny as hell but knew when to crack down. One day we're working Dive and doing lap bar checks and some woman for whatever reason had decided to put the plush bear she won on her lap between her and the bar. Of course I had to release that bar have her pull it out and reset it. But, as usual I couldn't do it without making a smart remark, in this case "boy, I wish I was that bear" to which Jim was trying to keep a straight face for the longest time and finally burst out laughing after the ride started. He said something like "Blll, that was funny as hell but MAN, YOU CAN'T SAY THAT IN FRONT OF THEM!" Of course Jim had a much more lude name for Power Dive that I probably shouldn't mention here!
---
My other funny memory was '91. I was a rather new Asistant Lead over on Lobster/Gig but having amassed so many certifications (At my height I believe I held Tower, Carousel, Dodge, Condor, Shockwave, Dive, Cajun, Rapids, Lobster, Gig and Wolf) I was needed to help out over at Rapids which was known for needing the crew from hell (I think minimum staff on Rapids was 5 or 6 if I remember right). Anyway, weather was hot and muggy and a nasty threat blew in complete with a tornado warning. The power goes out, the ride sets up, the warning sirens are blaring, a recording is blaring "take cover immediately a tornado has been sighted", and the wind is screaming. I was working the table if I remember right and NO ONE was going down the lift stairs to the docks to pull the rafts in (anyone familiar with Rapids knows when it sets up the lift stops, the gate at the base of the lift goes up and all the rafts get diverted to the dock pond).
---
Now, I could be wrong or maybe in my youth and enthusiasm I was just the fastest but I remember booking down that lift gangway and grabbing a pole to snag the rafts. A few others came to help. The last raft though was stuck and the sirens and everything are still going, the dang thing is stalled and too far away for me to snag it. Finally I reach it out and say to a male guest "You're not supposed to do this but GRAB THIS POLE RIGHT NOW!" He grabbed it, I got the raft docked and the people off and disaster was avoided. I think the funnel cloud was close to the park but I don't recall if it ever touched down.
---
I'll also not forget my most hectic time which was early in the '92 season. I was going to college at the University of Southern California and we got out way earlier than most midwest schools (before May I believe or the first week of May). Anyway, I was made Lead over at Condor/Dodge but my co-lead wasn't going to be there for another few weeks and Carousel/Tower had no lead at all so I was running four rides! The high schools had their annual physics day and I had the honor of training several full-time employees on Tower and Carousel early in the morning, sending them to take their certifications (pray that they would pass) and come back and staff the rides to have them open that day. Since I was the only one certified on controls for all four and I was Lead I was running and juggling like you would not believe that day!
---
Sure I'll think of more later.
People to find:Names are escaping me, would love to hook up with some more of my old crew mates.

Fond memories:2 words...Chernobyl Bobsleds! The day it rained so much we only had 30 guests in the park and we shut down - Maury on the microphone yelling, "Noah. This is God. Build an ark!!" Calling over to Triple Fun on a clear day and telling them they were down for local lightening...and they went down! The night we closed Splash early to drain the pond, and we volunteered to clean out all the green slime at the bottom. As Bill Stephan would say, "That ain't cool (TAC)!" Our trips to King's Island and passing cans of pop between the cars going 60 mph down 41. I had the best time making new friends and enduring the long, hot days of summer on a water ride. And, who can forget softball at 6am at Viking Park???!!! What were we thinking? Especially after o/c-ing the whole week and partying after the park closed. Wish I had that kind of energy now, along with a time machine to go back...

(parker and wessel, Herb and Amy F, Komac, Rob S and Marisa, D.Sibley, Tito & Meagan, Pat O and Rachel Lamb, Hauser, Sandy, Bill Moss and I am sure there are more to come.) Devils lake camping trips. Chris Frierson with his pants around his ankles when the Forrest ranger came to the campsite. Where's the Ax Joe! Special Olympics Sports Carnival,Cubs Conventions and shoot the Bull trips. Herb hiding a sandwich in the wall at southwest and finding it there the following season. Warehouse Volleyball and late night display projects. Throwing snow on someone while they were in the little boys room (romie was a helper). Switching Rob Lundes and Betty's office. Kevin Komac getting carded for pretty much everything (lotto, beer and the McDonalds monopoly game). TO be honest there are too many memories and too many people to list, because I cherished every memory and friend while I was at Six Flags Great America.

Fond memories:I think the best memories are from the years I spent working in the Games office. There was never a dull moment and I'm not really sure how any work ever got done because we spent a lot of time watching all the new ways the supervisors could torture Rob Lunde. For the most part the jokes were taken in good stride but there were a few times over the years that Wando, Jeremy Doser, Tim Foote, Komac, and maybe a little bit of Herb Case/Ivan Voss pushed the limit, which to the office staff, made it that much funnier-sorry Rob. Let's not forget the famous performance of Jeremy Doser and Kathleen Kaperka singing "SunShine Day" at the top of their lungs, that stupid "Tommy, Tommy, Tommy, Oops, thing", and Flo, who always had something good to eat!

Fond memories:So many memories...Coming in at 8am and working until midnight only to go out drinking afterwords and still be in by 8am the next day! Being on the birthday board with Steiskal at a bar in Wisconsin when we were still underage!Doing inventories everyday on that big paper form while standing out at the center units. Kick switches and prize meters. John Kokum and Gary Luke showing off their boxer shorts every day. Being called "Amy Is". Lukefest! Special Olympics Sports Carnival - I still wear my shirts! WI State Fair supe outings. Arcade Nights. Always being the most spirited (or was it obnoxious) department at company events/meetings. The training slide show. Getting one of the two non-polyester skirts from wardrobe and wanting to keep it forever! The "office" above Eagles arcade. Watching fireworks from the roof. Guys wearing rust colored knickers and hats in County Fair. G.A.S.S shoes from Kinney's followed so affectionately by the Roos! Rob Lunde giving me a chance to return to the dept as Training Supe after I had been gone for two years. Dancing to the Carousel Song every morning. Doug Duty as Dr. Frankenfurter at a Games Talent Show. I could go on and on...but most importantly - meeting so many great friends that I still keep in contact with now!!

Fond memories:Spades with Big 10, crazy hick bonefire parties with Dave Allen pulling knives on people. Josh always getting really hot and puking at parties. Sleeping in Matt Wilson's sisters bed after passing out, before passing out seeing Larry's naked ass in the air having sex in Matt's parents room. Saturday morning hangovers. Internationals - they weren't the brightest, but they didn't mind working 16 hours a day - even if we were open for 10. Gotta love little stealers pulling money out of their underwear after 2 minutes alone with the LP boys. Hitting some food dept girl in the boobs from a line drive in softball (I got a double). Losing miserably in poker, even if we were only playing 7/27, somehow I'd always end up with 43. Getting a crush on every semi-cute girl I worked with (sorry Kate I wasn't one of your stalkers), but Chrissy Wissy is a nice man, Chrissy Wissy wants to kiss Sam. Making out in the back of Yukon, oops I mean counting tweety bird cages. This is too long and I need to pee. Bottom line. Lots of fun. I wished I could do it again, but then again my liver can't take the alcohol again.
P.S. Can't forget seeing Steve Marchildon at the Admiral and him explaining he spent 1,000 there one week because he thought the waitress liked him. But the fondest memory all was being threatened to be shot in my face after firing a dumb 15 year old guy, for flirting with...A GUY.
People to find:All the Big 10 crew, basically everyone that got me drunk everynight since I was 15. Thanks to all for the beer gut. I blame YOU.

I'd like to thank everyone at Great America for my study habits. It's boring but hey, I don't have to worry about yellow foul lines. I am also engaged and will be getting married in July. Fond memories:Wow, good question!! I loved the view from the top of Raging Bull lift. Walking up that lift to check the Aiphones was great exercise!!
Then there was the time I was hanging off the side of Sky Trek Tower after retriving the intercom from the motor room!! I pulled the port doors closed and couldn't get it to latch, so I used both hands to pull it shut and turned the key to latch it and the doughnut started to go down. Now mind you I was standing on the top rung of the ladder, because the cables stretched over the years and the ladder didn't go all the way up to the port doors. You had to stand on the top rung to access the door. I was hanging on to the cold steel rung under the port hole watching the cabin go down without me!! I yelled at the top of my lungs, "STOP THAT F!@&ING CABIN!" The stupid maintenance sup., who shall reamin nameless, had pulled the
E-Stop in the cabin out, before I was inside. Needless to say they attached an extension to the ladder before next season!!
I busted some guest stealing plush form behind Cirque arcade storage once, that was fun, Gurnee PD took him away!!
Scaring the shows office girls, in the off season with some of the recordings from the Mooseburger Lodge.
Replacing the steel pins in seasonals tool boxes with tooth picks, so when they picked up their tool box it would break and their tools would go everywhere!! Duct taping and using heat shrink wrap to seal seasonal tools together.
Hiding the merchandise truck out by Eagle plush storage for parking in the electronics dept. parking spot.
Cushman races!! Off roading with the mini-bike out by the Tool-way sign.
Working overtime at the Batman!! Making a new soundtrack CD for the Bat Cave, using music from all the Batman movies. I wonder if it's still being used.
Working with the Creature Crew during Fright Fest. Putting new things in the haunted houses.
Helping in sound system design for the re-modeled floats and Home Town Train Stage.
Trying to make each other burst out laughing while doing LIVE park pages!! I made a seasonal almost swear over the park paging system once!! Thank goodness for the kill button!!
I could go on and on. Wando and his antics at In-Laws. Derrick Sibley stealing sips of your drinks and showing off his, well you had to be there!! Playing Bill Moss at darts!! Throwing Buddha's little brother Kelly into the plush bins, he thought he was so tough!! LOL Fun times!! Gretta from wardrobe was always a riot!! And calling all units at the end of the season and saying the park was 10-7 for the year!!

Fond memories:1997-I started in County CD, wac-a-mole EVERY day I worked. I only did Fright Fest Sundays cuz I was 15. Games banquet...with my mom!! Julie Knight asked me to apply for the office for following year. My 1st year was a grand total of 8 days. 1998-promoted to Office girl, and all that comes with that. We ladies had parties all the time, Rob would "get jiggy with it," and Luis was our honorary office Supe on days where Southwest was too hot to handle. Herb came in every morning & asked if it was phase 2 yet cuz he didn't want to wear his tie. 1999-was a crazy year, got put under the water faucet outside CDC & had to sneak past Rob doing a training to get a new uniform because we had all gotten unruly in recent weeks & he probably would've fired me had he seen how soaked I was! There are so many memories...
2000-2004 I was a supe in every area of the department, would dance up & down the midway, and even got to sew stuffed animals with Flo one year because of a recent knee surgery. Oh, and my last year, the only year I went to Devil's Lake with the crew, I had a blast. Wish I would've skipped classes the years before so I could've gone.

Go for the gopher is where I start, cause how can you ever forget the bride and groom monkeys filled with god knows what. There was the road trip to Astroworld and driving 100+ and being passed like we were standing still, Grasser and I holding Christina under the water spout outside of games warehouse during a huge rain storm, working night crew and one of the staff painting various body parts onto the murals, going on late night rides with Mark to Fond Du Lac, it was good therapy and you don't know how much it helped, that great little beach at the end of Highway 50, cheeseburger eating contests with Tim Legel, poker nights at Wandos and the burning of his Moms craft stuff, my 21st birthday (most of which I do not remember thanks to the likes of Rob Lunde), Kelly Murakami slicing my hand open with a razor, Ouija boards, goose poop football, early morning softball, making pizzas at Luigis with Rob Sarle & Lisa Tyminski for supe night and eating more than we put out, that sandwich in the wall was nasty, going to the Milwaukee Zoo, the awesome seats that Alyssa and I ended up with at the Cubs game right behind home plate, the effect that Garth Brooks song "The Dance" can have, almost going skydiving except Pias' car broke down on the way so we couldn't (I think that was an oman, or an o' man), Wando driving away in Pias' car while playing softball, Pat Oldfield and those dang inventory sheets, Alyssa walking into the screen door at my parents old house, all the weddings, open bars, and dance floors that we terrorized over the years, I almost forgot the bathroom trips at ISO sports carnival (1..2..3..FLUSH!), and last but not least......KELLY!!!! Can't believe Wando forgot that one. Big thank yous to all of you that got me through the good times and the bad. You all really are an important part of my life. Fond memories:I loved everything about Six Flags and feel that my experience at the park (Whether in Games or Security) has really helped me succeed in life. Although I was somewhat shy and not a big part of the social scene I have countless memories. My fondest memories were the following: Cirque CDC (What ever happened to Val Petri) / Alfredo (I was forced to break out of my shell) / Racing around the park in the cushman / Accidentally cutting power to an entire section of the park / Taking skee ball inventory late at night / late night interrogations / Visits by girlfriends in the security room !!! (Don't tell anyone) / Having great employees in internal security / The day I interrogated 10 employees in one day / Being the only one not to be busted at a late night party (Boy was it cold in that cornfield) / Studying for flight exams while at Cirque CDC / Visits by all of the lovely ladies of the games department to the CDC counters / etc......
Other info/comments:Amazingly enough, I have been married for 11 years. My wife Jenny and I met in a parking lot of all places and have two kids (Emma and Matthew) and enjoy everyday of life together. I am the Director of Planning and Analysis for Rite-Hite Corporation and run an E-Bay business on the side. I can hardly wait in lines for the rides anymore since we got to do "morning testing" of the coasters (ie 10 rides on the same coaster... with no lapbar on the Eagle!! Wow was that fun!) Great stuff. What makes the difference are all the great people who work there. Fond memories:Too many to count or even remember. A friend and I used to say we would one day own the place and live over the Emporium in New Orleans Place. My favorite time in the park was after closing when the fog would roll in and just the street lights were on. Beautiful! Another favorite memory was walking lost kids to Lost Parents. Often a girl with 50 balloons in her hand was the only person they would go with. We always gave 'em a balloon for free, too. The kids always stopped crying then.

Fond memories:I have to start with the whole Games Gang. What a kooky bunch of folks, and what a great time we had. My favorite parts had to be Cindy Day's parties, working in CDC with the CDC gals (sorry Sean, Scott and Doser - but the Lady Leads ruled that cage!), pre-season picnics and the famous softball games, and just about everything else. From Brian Hauser and Tracy Mikols in Skee when we still had skee machines to Christy Poquette and Cindy Day laughing at me trying to use the microphone for the first time in Porky Pig Races....to my love of the Whac-a-mole. I had such a great time. I'll be forever indebted to Wando and Sarle who saved my butt too many times to count (Poor Sarle who accidentally came in early and ended up filling change machines with me because I was alone). And a little mention to my Antioch boys - Jim Woods, Scott Reimers, Herb Case and Brian from warehouse. Big hugs to you all!
People to find:The interns from '92, John Carlin and Bill Kwiatkowski. And Cindy Day, The rest of you are already here!

Fond memories:Wow, it's been a while. I think the most fun was working pre and post season. We were able to screw around alot more with out getting in trouble. And of coarse, as I think it was Josh that mentioned it, setting off the fire alarm in the games holding warehouse. Wasn't our fault, fright fest smoke machine wouldn't turn off!! And I know I never forgot those crab apple wars, and don't forget when we used the water balloons too. Every year was great in it's own way. I don't think I'll ever forget the people I worked with, well, maybe for a while, but when reminded I'll remember. Hey Kelly (aka lil buda), if you read this, remember the little flour trick on Daves car? Oh yea, that was great. Sorry Dave. Well, to anyone that reads this, I would love to get in touch with you all again. And I still show the pictures to friends of the camping trip!!

Fond memories:'Coining' the phrase "Ya Pias". Hiding drawings of DCN all over in CDC (in the air conditioner, in lil' Eriksen's hot cocoa, etc). Being bisected. Rat Bastards. Robbing Alison Pratt when she was working the window. Nibbles. Lemon Chill Boy. Watching CCTV basketball. 'but tomorrow's Saturday.' Playing Cabal all day on set up crew. Throwing snow over the stall on Ivan after his third shat of the day (set up crew). Driving the Security Mitzu (with light bar) during off season. Hacking into anyone's computer and f'ing with them (Help! I'm a bug!). Asking poignant questions to a Hindu - could you eat a beef pot pie if you were really careful and took out all the pieces of meat? The Red Tape (when I get a hold of you, God bless ya). Filthy Animals. Giving instructions like 'While you're doing meter readings, you're not supposed to play any games. But if you do, try Attaxx. It's kick dick!' Knowing that CDC was responsible for blocking the Parade exit TWO NIGHTS IN A ROW for over 45 minutes because we parked the truck in front of the gate. Dancin' Pounds away. Dancin' out of Harm's way. The long-lived 'Foote/Oldfield aerobics weight-loss program'. The head first slide in morning softball. Introducing people to Tom the Painter. Getting Rob Lunde to drop the f-bomb every Sunday night during inventory. Watching Lunde go off and Jeremy Doser walking up to him and handing him a moist towelette. Pitching impossible to win scenarios for games that had too high COS (milk cans swinging on chains and using whiffle balls, removing the 10-point sensor from skeeball machines, etc.). Watching JC beating up a filing cabinet in the bone yard. You ain't got no legs, Lt. Dan. Redbeard and his whole gypsy family. Yelling horrible obscenities at Pat Oldfield during audits in front of EVERYONE. Being practically molested at parties by a certain 'less than desirable' girl. Clown's Lounge. Eating dog food on several occasions (no trickery needed).

Fond memories:As much as I hated being known as "Linda's Sister", I owe her for the great times I had there. If it wasn't for Six Flags, I would have never come out of my shy-shell. Hal Bouma..."it's that you Barb?!" &"Envy me!". Playing "Name that Puke" (a bit sick twisted but it past the time). Secret hand signals, getting 25 names & phone #s in 1 shift, asking guys what color & size underwear they wore (Lisa started it!). John Holmes, Sean, Mary, Paul, Dave Rowe, etc. I loved my AGR/BigTop/Fling crews, both 92 & 93 & remember the many days of working in the hot sun at Fling as puke flew around in circles. Gober - "Why do they call you Big Top Barb?". Coming in early to brasso AGR & going to Avalon for a great cup of joe. Riding Batman during the commercial shoot & yelling "Dozer ... goats!" (you fill in the blank-I know you know it!) Telling Dozer what I thought of him (darn it felt good). Getting in a fight w/Bill Stephen for doing something totally wrong in every professional sense (Todd D. sorry, but I had to do what I did). Not being allowed to demote myself (being told either stay at AGR as lead or we will move you to Condor/Rou le Dodge as a lead, but we won't demote you...how that was supposed to justify things still puzzles me). How terrible the sup's communication was when it came to me wanting to demote myself, how they tried to stop me from getting a job in another department, & how surprised Misty's face was when she heard the whole story. Oh, the sweet justice when the words from her mouth said, "you can take that transfer to maintenance; I am sorry for all the troubles."
The awesome times I had working in the toolcrib & in Ride Maintenance w/some of the most sweet, but sometimes misunderstood, men in the park - The Maintenance Dept - 4800!. Wearing my blues, shorts in the winter & carharts in the winter-I felt like Ralphie's brother ("I can't get up!"). They gave me alot of grunt work but I loved every minute of it & wouldn't trade it for nothing! We shared sound wild times together-WILD-I will leave it at that (I do recall a late night swim..hehe)(:P). Doing 3 Blow Jobs (the drink, geez!) at the Inlaws & drinking beers w/the Chief, Fallos, Hank, Steve, Speedy, etc. Leaving maintenance on rather unfortunate circumstances & to those that were behind what happened-I forgive, but I never forget. You taught me a HUGE lesson in life.
But, still, in a nut shell, I would NEVER forget what happened in my stint w/SFGA...the co-workers, the guests, the trips, the afterhours.
People to find:The most talented person in the entire world - Kris Jones! I keep in touch w/Tim Hrynewyz, Tony Toto & Hal Bouma.
I would love to know what has happened to my crew in 92 and 93, & anyone else I worked w/that was part of a Flat Ride Crew. These were often the forgotten souls that got the shaft. They worked hard, didn't ask for much & knew how to make the best of what they had, even knowing that all they will get is a 30 minute lunch by themselves when major crews got 45 mins & had the opportunity to lunch w/their crews. Even w/getting the shaft, they still knew how to have fun & never had an air about them...unlike many, many, people on the majors (I think you know who you are). In maintenance, I would love to know how those that took me under their wings are doing - Fallos & Speedy, amoung others. Also would love to know how Waz, Pearsall, Tiddens, both electrical Brians, Candy, & others.
Other info/comments:Live in Moline, IL, five minutes away from my sister Linda (the Whizzer SunGod) w/my boyfriend Tim of almost 8 years & our two beautiful German Shepherds. I have a BS in Recreation, Park & Tourism Administration from WIU & a MBA from University of Phoenix & am employed with Nestle Purina as a Logistics Technical Specialist.
IRONY: You know...my goal fo getting my recreation degree was to use it towards working higher up in SFGA. I would have loved to have gone into management in SFGA; but I wasn't one of the "gang"...Some things weren't meant to be. That's okay...no regrets.

Fond memories:By far the most enjoyable job of my youth....the practical jokes made by the Cash Control comedy team of Doser & Fitzgerald (whether it was the Seymour Butts paging at the cafeteria or sending unsuspecting people for free meals- ha!). The early morning softball games, the 1 1/2 years working in the warehouse, having a great time with the night crew, the times they would have employee night and the games crew would walk away with 2/3 of the toys (ringers!). There are too many people that I enjoyed interacting with to mention, but I'm glad to see that there is a way to reconnect. Email me anytime, and yes I would love to come back up for a reunion...

Areas worked: Park Services :Farmers Market/GA Hotdog, Rides: Skywhirl/Haybaler, Demon, Powerdive/Cajun, Railroad
Fond memories:I worked at the park on and off during the above time period. I remember working sky whirl and hay baler as my first unit in rides when i turned 16 with Brain Zaphf as my lead. It was the time when GA still had Marriott era costumes in which ours was the ugly county fair ones with tan knickers, dooky brown socks, suspenders and white shirt with a tie(I think)and park approved shoes.
We used to have a ball when sky whirl would go down for some reason and people would be like "What Happened?" because back in those days, sky whirl was the loudest(in my opinion, well maybe tidal waves breaks..) ride in the park and when the motors spin down, you WILL notice it right away from any area in the park. Some of us to call it the heart of the park because if it stopped for some reason, the park didn't seem right because we were used to the whirling of the motors in the arms nonstop.
Working at Power dive/Cajun with Todd Doerge and Lasasha Harris was really cool as well. Originally I wanted to work at a coaster that year but thats all they had availible, so i did it and it was cool but it had its bad times as well, but we made it fun.
I worked at Demon as well for part of the summer because i had scheduling conflicts at PD so demon was the only thing that was available at the time. We had our share of fun times as well. One of the things I remember is the wierd controls setup in at controls. It had the dispatch button on the sides of the panel so you would have to literally "hug" the panel to send a train, i think they the ones on top now if i remember correctly.
Also some of us used to scare the people on the trains coming into the break runs before the station because when i was there, they had a employee dock box near a small staircase which was really close to the track. When the train would come into the breaks after the corkscrew and the turn around into the station, one of us would be stating there and from the guests point of view on the trains it "looked like we were on the tracks and they would have this scared look on their faces because they though it was going to hit us even though it was a safe distance from us.
I only worked on Scenic Railway for a day as i was helping out that day. It was a really laid back unit as far as i can remember and the crew there was pretty cool. I don't remember the names of the people i worked with there since it was only for a day.
While in Entertainment department, I was a Character/Escort (Bugs,Coyote and Foghorn).I also worked in Theatre Royale as lead Attendant during the run of Hip Hop Hare. I worked with Stacy O'dell, Chaz Durham ,Rachel Corabine (sp),Kim Medhal (my sup). We used to go to TGI Fridays a lot after the nightly parade and just have a ball.

Fond memories:Whizzer: ’88 was a good year. I loved watching the guys fight over who’ll hit the E-stop first for a stander while working in controls. Oh, the many mornings I would squeeze packets of cream cheese from the top of Whizzer’s lift and watch it go “splat” on the computer room’s roof. Can’t forget the smell of fried possum, when one bit thru a large electrical cable in the transformer box. Synchronizing the AM catwalks so that everyone was at the top of their lifts and waved at each other... I think it was every Wednesday in '89. Dan Schwabe's bonfire parties. The guys threw paint cans into the bonfire, only to watch them blow up sky high and the guys would laugh their asses off. I had such a crush on Dan. Remember when he wore the Batman costume? I think I nearly peed my pants in laugher! The Demon Crew Party - holly cow, did those get crazy! Willie, you would know - you were there! Still have that photo of you guys posing as your favorite Teenage Mutant Ninga Turtle. 1990: I think we lost like ˝ of the best Leads that year from demotions or being fired. I’ll never forget how crazy it was the day the tornado sirens kicked off & Willie Garrett ran screaming for cover to the Demon tunnel. Too funny! Having to take over for Paul Slak at the Tidal Wave, the night he got fired, was a sad day. Watching Tidal Wave get dismantled was downright depressing. Good times, good times. Water fights on the platform, delivering snacks & beverages via test riding Loggers to those up top when we were short-staffed toward the end of the night and can’t squeeze in the last 15 min breaks. My co-Lead Heather and I would kick it in the Maintenance shed in the cool a/c, while our White Taggers were sweating away at work. Being jealous of how often Rolling Dumpster would be down for practically someone spitting on it, mic abuse (especially after 9pm when the Sups were all back in Park Ops), the Cedar Point, Kings Island, and Kennywood road trips, loved it when the park phone was broken so I could have a radio and be an ear whore... I can go on and on and on.
People to find:Paul Slak - What ever happened to the Slacker?
And what about Josh Handler, whom dated Tina Hoppe? He left GA and moved to Florida, only to hear rumors he got knocked off via the Maffia or something? Pete Forcier, the 'ol Whizzer God. Barry Labs, "The Whiz-arh" Scott, my co-Lead Heather '90 Loggers. Brian Butte (is he still married to Tina Hoppe?) Kim Sine (one of the best Sups EVER).
Other info/comments:Went to SIU-C. Was a Zookeeper for the Lincoln Park Zoo until 1999, when I moved out to the Quad Cities. I currently work in Customer Accounting for MidAmerican Energy. Got married on Halloween Day 2006 to my Super Hero, have a daughter, and live in a big-ass old house which we are still renovating in Rock Island, IL. What more can I say! Life is good.

Fond memories:I had a blast working as SFGA! I met my husband there (Rob Maglio, Shockwave). I had many favorite memories...too many to mention them all. Jeff Doser CONSTANTLY asking if I wanted to O/C. Burping LOUDLY over the PA at Rapids. GARBO-JUICE. Picking bushes. Earl the mechanic. Grounds hanging out at the exit of Rapids looking for girls in white T-shirts. Being up top at Logger's during a wicked lightening storm. Luau's, No-Talent Night, after-hours in the park. Master e-stops at Rapids...always brought all the Brass out to the ride to help evacuate. Listing with Doser when a Shockwave train separation/derailment was called into Park Ops...we booked across to park only to find it was a crank call.
I always worked with a GREAT bunch of people, had great supervisors and always had a TON of fun.

Fond memories:NAVY night, garbo pull, getting up and working at 8:00 the day after Prom rather than going to the park like everybody else, getting beeped in the bathroom. All the nasty puke at Big Top, disgusting Brassoing in those hideus yellow coulottes, NAVY night. Listening to Whitney Houston while wating to do the chain gang, track walks with all of my LOVELY leads, "The American Eagle Crew: We Do It Better Backwards!" grim reaperig at AGR during Fright Fest, NAVY Night. Stupid liftstops, being liftstopped by an obnoxious co-worker for turning around to wave at our crew, got busted out by my FAVORITE lead Tony for line jumping and being in Park Ops for hours deciding on what was going to happen to Rik and I. Believe that Rik got suspended and I got a verbal ;) Not sure which Sups helped me on that one. Going through Lead training about a hundred times, knowing that they'd never make me a lead, except on Fridays during October when nobody else was around. JWoody!!! Hating BBHell, and going to other rides to fill in that I knew nobody at. Oh yeah, did I mention NAVY night??

Fond memories:The memories I have are plenty. from my first day as a sweeper getting yelled at for not sweeping to my last day working grounds and getting fired for doing something completely stupid. But everyday holds a great memory and will always do so. Unfortunately, I consumed way too much alcohol during that time to actually remember any of it. There was a band that everyone was hot on and I still have there casette Jak Mackrel- after further reflection- they really did suck. Both rides and sweeper crews kept the night life going and never had a day where we didn't have anything to do afterwards. I really enjoyed John Rimkus, Ray Dunwoodie, Rick ishmael and myself getting off for 1 hour drinking 2 oil cans of Fosters and then doing Club Coke on Fridays- we all had a good time( bouncers for sure). Going to Dave Beeman is my Idol parties before Dave Beeman was my Idol. And working with a great bunch of people who always had fun doing what we all did. I always recommend working here to anyone who considers it.

Areas worked: Cajun Cliffhanger and Power Dive, later Security
Fond memories:Gosh, where to begin. My first year I worked with Aimee Martens at the Cajun and the little kids bumper cars. What a great time. We would share people with the Lobster and Gig crew at times. That first year was amazing, working with Dan from Lobster, listening to King Diamond. Then there where the trips to Burger King with Kim Menetti and the rest. Going to see Aerosmith with her, Heath, Venetia, and some someone else. I miss those days. Later I switched over to the Power Dive and absolutely loved it. Working with Chris Acord, AKA Capt. Chaos. Great time, what a nut job. One memorable moment was coming out of the lunchroom one morning to see the Tidal Wave hit the top of the front wave. I thought it was going to fall on me. After they were down for the count, I would BS with Paige Sefton so long, I got busted. Paige, remember what I used to call you? PAGAN? From Dragnet. Great time. I can’t believe we played softball at 6a; many times after working 14 hours, then drinking. Jamming Beastie Boys Paul Revere in the parking lot after the game, great time. I remember visiting Paul Slak over at Sky Whirl, someone had just hooked one of those height measuring bars to the bottom of the ride. Here is this thing hanging from a basket, ready to fall at any minute. I thought we were going to get busted for that one. My claim to fame was being an extra in the Shockwave commercial. Sitting with John Zagone and riding that coaster about 8 times in a row. It was 40 degrees or so, but we had to make it look like summer so we could only wear t-shirts. Watching the commercial frame by frame, you could see us once.
From there I went into Security for the next 4 years. One memorable moment was having a drunk sailor mopping up his puke in the Security Office. “yes captain I will swab the deck” Another great time was a bus raid where we recovered several stolen radios and radar detectors. This “block club” pretty much ran through the parking lot like it was a mall. Breaking into cars like mad. Other fun was busting the minors with alcohol. We used to be able to confiscate it but that changed along the way. I always enjoyed nailing the shoplifters. When it rains, that is when it got busiest. I caught a girl shoplifter boasting how easy it was to steal when it was raining. One time, while transporting a teen to the office for processing; we meet up with his father. Dad was not impressed and started to pound the boy right in front of us. So, we had to take dad down too. My last year at SFGA I worked Security on the midnight shift because I did my Internship during the day. It was the first year of Fright Fest. At night as we made our rounds, it was pretty creepy. Eventually the day shift decided to screw with us and plant monsters along the way of our rounds. I hear someone got spooked and may have smashed a mannequin to pieces one night. Another night I was in dispatch and got a frantic call to turn on the park lights in the Buzzy Bee area. I got panicked by the franticness of the call so I mistakenly turned on the entire park lights, not just the section. Apparently, my mistake cost the park $300 worth of electricity.
I have so many great memories of my days at SFGAM. One of the best was in the middle of working midnights, and my internship, I was able to meet my wife, Tina Merel of Foods.

A Tidal Wave lead who 'read' the 'sop' over an open microphone as the ride came backwards through the station, in a panicked voice, looking side to side at the panel "Brakes?! Brakes?!" and as the train stopped "Ah, Brakes". "Testes, Testes, left, right" microphone check (same lead), "This is God, Build an Arc", cotterpin opening shift, waving at Sherman during doughnut break (at the top lift crown to lift crown),

Areas worked: Burgers on the Run and Farmers Market
Fond memories:My memory on how long I worked there is a bit fuzzy, probably because I had entertained with Jeff Jones and Tim McNeill too often. All I know it was a damn good time. After work parties which was nightly and then some. Then busted some butt cranking out burgers, fries and what not and going out all over again. Won't catch me on a roller coaster agin those days are over.
